Fun and Responsibility

It is said that "Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder". Activities that are "pure fun" - with no responsibility attached - are like things of "obvious beauty". Activities that are "pure responsibility" - with seemingly no fun attached - still have fun in them. To notice the fun, one has to be open to finding fun in anything; and then you will find the fun in responsibilities. Just as beauty depends on the beholder, fun depends on the doer; even in fulfilling responsibilities".

Fulfill your responsibilities, and see the fun in it when doing it.

Usually, one does not like responsibilities. Simple examples of responsibilities can be found in doing household chores: like washing dishes, taking out the garbage, responsible recycling, filing tax returns, etc. When one thinks of fun, one does not see any obvious association of responsibility in it. Responsibility is associated though; you have to be open to seeing it; just like beauty. Responsibility when having fun is in questioning the intrinsic danger involved in the fun, in considering the amount of time to dedicate to the fun activity, in considering having a diversified portfolio of fun activities, etc.

Have fun, but responsibly.

Fun with Responsibility. Responsibility with Fun.

Is "Living a Good Life" fun or responsibility or both?

Will having a better society help its citizens in having a good life? Is building such a better society a fun activity or a responsibility?

Regardless of your natural talents and limitations, would it help you have a good life if you have better knowledge and skills? Would it help if you build a better you? Is building a better you fun or responsibility?

People find it easy to notice betterment opportunities in the society than in themselves. But just as fun and responsibility are intertwined, individual and society are also intertwined. Have fun in improving both; improve both responsibly.

Betterment or improvement is both a responsibility and fun.

But, remember, you have far greater influence and control over yourself than over the society. How does it impact what you do?

Better citizens create a better society. Better society creates better citizens. But, it starts with you.

Ask not what the society can do for you; ask what you can do for yourself. While that may sound selfish, but, when it is done without exploiting others, and when done with care for others, then it will also results in the collective of citizens bettering the society for the betterment of the citizens.

A better society of the people, for the people, by the people begins with better people. A better society begins with a better you.
